I can't wait to share with my grandson. THANK YOU for bringing the music of Elizabeth Mitchell to us. On my daily trek to the "MP3 Daily Deal" I noticed that the pick was a children's record and decided to pass. It's truly a record that we can both love. I'm now going to check out Ida. A day later, I thought I would at least preview a track or two (Hey Bo Diddley.). I'm so glad I did, this is a wonderful CD.
Her voice and her energy and her love of children are fantastic. This CD ought not to disappoint a toddler or a family who likes to feel joy and to feel relaxed about being together.Wonderful.
Ah well. We can't wait for her family's new album. The only drawback--no lyrics included.
Elizabeth Mitchell is a breath of fresh air in children's music. Rather, she follows in the tradition of Guthrie, Seeger, and others who sing for children because they want to, because they consider children to be important beings.Elizabeth does some wonderful renditions of music from vintage Sesame Street here (Ladybugs 12) as well as a host of favorites like You Are My Sunshine.
Perhaps on the next one. We saw her perform recently at a children's book festival, and she is wonderful.
She is not a children's artist who seeks to exploit a marketing niche.
I think this would make a great gift for new parents, and certainly can't imagine anyone (adult or shild) not enjoying it. We listen to this music softly while reading books, or a little louder when our toddler son wants to sing and dance. I'm so delighted to have found this CD. The music is sweet and certainly mellow enough even for babies, but not drippy or silly the way so much children music is.
If I could delete 2 or 3 songs on this cd, I would have given it 5 stars. We also have another Elizabeth Mitchell cd called "You Are My Little Bird" that you should get, it's just as good if not better. It's totally worth the buy. This cd is full of VERY good quality music that my kids LOOOOOOVE and I love singing along to also. We are addicted to it.
The quality of this recording is unbelievably better than You are My Sunshine and it comes with lyrics. Consider spending your money on one of the other wonderful recordings for children that are available, for example, Sing Along with Putumayo. The selection of songs is o.k., but it's hard to understand the words. It would help if the lyrics were included, but they are not.
